Federal Level




Law of 21 March 1994 on the Prevention and Management of Packaging Waste: This law implements the EU's "Directive on Packaging and Packaging Waste (94/62/EC)", stipulates the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system, and has been revised several times.


Royal Decrees: These are used to implement the above - mentioned law, specifying details such as the definition and requirements of packaging, the recycling targets for packaging waste, the calculation method of eco - contributions, and the recycling and reuse of packaging materials.

Flanders Region



Flemish Waste Material Cycle Plan (VLAREMA): It is a waste management framework that covers packaging waste and promotes waste prevention, reuse, and recycling.
