How Blinds Work

INTRODUCTION

Before undertaking any repairs on blinds, it is important to have a good understanding of how they function. It is essential to know what occurs when you raise, lower, or tilt the slats. In the case of horizontal blinds, there are two primary functions: lifting & lowering and tilting.

In this instructional video, we first demonstrate the lifting and lowering process by explaining the location where the lift cord is tied off. We then trace the path of the cords and illustrate how the cord lock securely holds the cords in place, keeping the blinds in the raised position.Moving on, we examine the tilt mechanism, providing insight into the gears responsible for opening and closing the slats. Discover how the tilt mechanism facilitates the movement of the string ladder to adjust the slat angle. Once you have a comprehensive understanding of how all the components work together, repairing horizontal blinds becomes a more straightforward task.

A NOTE ON SAFETY

It's important to note that blind cords pose a potential safety hazard, particularly for children who may accidentally strangle themselves. To ensure the safety of your blinds, keep cords out of reach and securely fasten cord and bead chain loops. For more detailed safety information, please visit our web page on safety.
